I wanted to thank Kitty Aubrey for signing the guest book, but decided to remove the feature anyway.  I received nearly 75 pornographic "guests" that it wasn't worth it to wade through to see the real guests.  So thanks Kitty!  And keep checking in for more news and information about ASL legal interpreters. 

Congratulations to Adam Bartley of Washington, D.C., and Joanne Lengle-Sharer of Pennsylvania for attaining their SC:L certificates!  Adam is a staff interpreter at Gallaudet University and joins a number of SC:L interpreters on their staff.  Joanne is a graduate of the DOIT Center's legal interpreter program and runs an agency called Sign Language Interpreting Professionals.  Kudos to you both for your hard work and efforts you put into the field.

Also a while back, I was told Jake Thomas received his SC:L and I failed to mention it here.  You know Jake, formerly of the RID home office, and now out and about interpreting. 

It's hard to keep up with all the newly certified interpreters out there, but we are glad to see them!

Congratulations to Tara Potterveld and Janice Humphries who have received their Specialist Certificate: Legal.  That so many folks have recently received their certificates seems to indicate that RID is serious about clearing out the back log of candidates waiting for notification after its recent rater training.  That is good news particularly with the language in Wahid essentially blaming the RID for not providing the results quickly enough to candidates.

Congratulations to Steven Surrency of Florida who has just received his Specialist Certificate:  Legal. 

While the numbers are growing, it is helpful to know the SC:Ls in your area in order to network and work together in staffing legal matters.
